Overview
Growth sleeve

25-75% or 65-75%

Equity bands vary widely. Some funds are balanced hybrids; others carry a much higher equity floor.

Income sleeve

25-75% debt range

Debt and money market exposure funds margins, income generation, liquidity management and defensive allocation.

Hedge sleeve

Up to 25%

Most ISIDs permit unhedged short derivative positions in equity and/or debt instruments.

Alternatives sleeve

0-20%

REITs and InvITs appear in several mandates, but limits and usage differ fund by fund.

Category thesis

Hybrid Long Short is a spectrum, not a single myrisk bucket.

Investors often read the category label and assume these funds are interchangeable. The ISIDs say otherwise. Allocation bands, redemption windows, exit loads, benchmark choices, and derivative permissions differ enough that the category needs a fund-by-fund research page.

Not one product

Hybrid Long Short SIFs share the label, but the myrisk engine changes sharply by fund: some run 25-75 equity bands while others run 65-75 equity with derivatives overlays.

The hedge is a sleeve

Most ISIDs permit up to 25% unhedged short derivative exposure. That is a myrisk tool, not a guarantee of capital protection.

Liquidity differs

The category includes twice-weekly, weekly-with-notice, and monthly redemption structures. Exit rules can matter as much as return history.

Benchmarks split

Most funds use NIFTY 50 Hybrid Composite Debt 50:50, while some use CRISIL hybrid benchmarks with different myrisk-band context.

Lower-friction, balanced hybrid exposure

Altiva, Infinity, Apex, Arudha

These use wider 25-75 or 35-65 style equity/debt ranges and keep the category closer to a balanced hybrid framework.

Income plus derivative overlays

Magnum, Platinum, Titanium, iSIF

These are higher-equity-band funds that lean on arbitrage, covered calls, debt, and selective unhedged equity/derivative exposure.

Model-driven or sharper return-seeking exposure

qSIF, iSIF, Titanium

These carry higher myrisk-band signals or more aggressive strategy language. Study drawdown, liquidity, and benchmark fit carefully.

Exit-load sensitivity

Arudha, Infinity, Apex

The reviewed ISIDs show nil or no exit-load language for defined windows, while other peers can charge 0.50%-2.00% inside stated periods.
